Riona's Matryoshka Themed Birthday Party

Just a little back story… About a year ago, I had a photo shoot gig with Smart Parenting, wherein we were tasked to feature a restaurant with a kid friendly menu and facilities. The article and photos about Project Pie is still online (just in case you want to check it out) as penned by Steph Esguerra. After the shoot, Derek and Pinky who were just having lunch at that time, kindly invited us over at their table and we shared our pizza creations and stories together. It was really nice to have met them over awesome food. Months later we would find each other celebrating their daughter’s first year on Earth! Yahoo 🙂

Riona’s first birthday party was held at Corinthian Gardens Clubhouse. As soon as we entered the venue, we couldn’t really help but admire how the place has been dressed up so intricately, following a super unique theme … Matryoshka Dolls! During the party, Pinky(Mom) shares with us that the concept and artwork was actually created by Derek(Dad). Cool! I can just imagine how much he must have enjoyed while working on the designs. I forget which book or article I read that says “Work is an expression of love.” In this case, both parents really showered their daughter Riona, through their efforts in giving her a memorable and wonderful birthday party. I hope someday, when Riona grows up together with her cool brother Rael, she’ll enjoy recounting her special day.
