Sofia’s Baptism | Our Lady of Mt. Carmel

For pandemic babies like Sofia, their baptism ceremony had to be scheduled a little later than ones I usually meet (3-6 months), so that the safety of all the family members can be observed. After two years of being in the arms of her parents, I finally met Sofia ๐Ÿ™‚

She’s my third time traveling -baby friend from this family! And I’ve also welcomed her two older brothers during the baptism and birthdays ๐Ÿ™‚ I call them time travelers, because I only get to be reunited with the families that I have photographed whenever they have occasions to celebrate.

In between those periods, there’s a lot of growth that happens. ๐Ÿ™‚ For the family, for the children, and for myself as well. With gift of time, we experience and embrace changes, and yet still manage to grow (up) together somehow.

Mt. Carmel is a huge Shrine in New Manila, (with lots of parking too!). It’s beautiful baptistry never fails to amaze me whenever I come and have my shooting assignments there. If the walls could speak, they’ll probably say, “Ikaw na naman?” hehe! Kyusi for the win!

Let’s proceed with the photos, and meet good memories just by going back to see them. ๐Ÿ™‚

We dressed up Sofia just outside the venue. As I was taking photos, I remembered doing the exact same thing for her mother, during her wedding day (collecting moments). ๐Ÿ™‚

A fresh start for Sofia!, earlier this week I heard on a podcast that one doesn’t need to wait for the new year or the actual birthday to have a reset. This is because, In Christ a new life is always at hand.

My personal musings why Mt. Carmel is a good place to hold a baptism for your child:

  1. You can be with Nature: On the way to the baptistry and while getting out of the parking you’ll see that there are lots of trees around the church, giving it a serene and relaxing vibe. It’s as if you’re going to go on a retreat! Plus, the neighborhood is pretty quite too.
  2. Spacious Baptistry: While I would recommend the least amount of people in the room, I believe attending baptisms blesses not only the baby and the family, but also the guests. Sometimes, life-changing lessons just pop out of baptismal orientations. You’ll never know which guest need is comforted by God’s presence.
  3. Accessibility: I mentioned earlier in this post that there’s a lot of parking. But maybe because there was no wedding that was happening at the same time as our baptism shoot. Nevertheless, the church is near good dining places for a reception in Quezon City like New Manila, Tomas Morato & Maginhawa.
